Katavi National Park is the third largest in Tanzania. This park is a western park and is located in the Rukva district. In these areas, the reserves and reserves have merged together: Park Katavi, Rukva, Lukvati and Luafi, jointly occupy an area of 25,000 km2. According to the legend of Benda, a local tribe, the name of Katavi is on behalf of the spirit that dwells between two trees - a date Indian and a fake white acacia. A large part of the park is located in the Rukva hollow, belonging to the East African rift system, at the same time it borders on the Tanganyika complex. Lake Rukva is named by scientists the lowest part of the valley. The depression is surrounded by two plateaus, Llamba La Mifipa protects the lowland from the west, Mlele Escarpment - on the east side. This area is often filled with downpours, therefore on the flooded meadows rare species of grasses rim, framing lakes and rivers. Very impressive is the waterfall favored by the eastern escarpment. It has its own streams of waterfalls such as: Chorangwa, Lukima and Ndido. Particularly beautiful view from below. Water falls from the rocks, spraying small trickles and illuminating drops with the rays of the African sun. The western plateau is famous for its height difference. If we compare it with the east, we will see a huge difference, since the height of the mountains reaches 1560 meters. Almost all the streams fill Lake Rukva, only the Nkamba River stretches its tributaries to Lake Tanganyika. If you call the park a single living organism, then its main artery can be considered the waters of Katum. In the park, in spite of rainstorms, the active atmosphere of life is constantly raging. More than 20 000 zebras roam in search of the most delicious food, 15 000 buffaloes drink from rivers, as well as: marshes, majestic elephants, lion prides, graceful leopards, smart cheetahs, crocodiles, predatory hyenas and many other inhabitants of Africa, are ready to show you how beautiful The pristine nature of this area. Flora pleases with exotic, hard-to-reach forests, where about 226 species of various trees grow, fragrant grassy fields, large swamps, and, of course, lakes that arise from heavy rainfall. White and yellowish color, complement the landscapes of the plant from the genus of mimosa, which is also called white acacia.
