Just 100 km north of Mombasa, from the city of Malindi to the beginning of the Meade valley, the national marine reserve of Kenya stretches. It includes national marine parks and reserves of Malindi and Watamu. Part of the sea with its coral reefs, sandy beaches and part of the land with mangrove forests, which is flooded with tides is the territory of the reserve.

In the coastal waters among the coral reefs live more than 200 species of fish and 20 species of squid. There are sponges, sharks, octopuses and barracudas.

On the shore of the park grows a forest, called Mida Creek, where mangrove trees grow, and many endemic animals and plants live. In snow-white sand lay their eggs several varieties of rare sea turtles.

In the park there are more than 100 species of birds: in stunted trees and bushes you can find a brown-winged bird-mouse, a bearded bulbul, an African cuckoo cuckoo.
