Watamu is the first of Kenya's national marine parks. This is a delightful place for a passive and active holiday. Here is the eponymous resort, which accepts tourists from all over the world, wishing to plunge into the atmosphere of the ocean, peace and tranquility. Sandy whitish unspoilt beaches border on mangrove groves, where various species of mammals and birds live. And besides, you can immerse yourself in a beautiful world, where coral reefs reign.

Diving, diving safaris and walks on ships with a transparent bottom are organized for tourists here. Coral reefs extend to 300 m from the shore. They are more than 150 varieties of hard and soft type. In the waters off the coast there are more than 500 species of beautiful fish and 20 species of squid. It is interesting to observe the barracuda, dugong, whale sharks, octopus and dolphins that live in these waters.

In addition to representatives of the ichthyofauna, Watamu is known for a variety of other birds and animals. In the groves of mangrove trees, nests of more than a hundred species of birds are arranged. Among them you can see a black kite, lilac-chested caterpillar, canary finch, shportsevuyu African cuckoo. Right on the Watham beaches lay eggs of olive, green turtle and turtle bisza. In this area there is a migration path of sea-skinned turtle. To save populations, save places of laying eggs and caught the turtles by fishermen, a special program Watamu Turtle Watch. It also includes the protection and patrolling of beaches.
